Linking Omnifocus to Devonthink Articles

This is a quick and easy solution to using Omnifocus and Devonthink together. Although I would not describe myself as a power-user of Omnifocus I do use it to make a to-do list of things to read and work on for my Ph.D.

I import PDFs into Devonthink and tag them with a “To Read” label and use a Smart list of “To Read” documents, however, there is no time limit set on them to read by a certain date. So I get a bit slack and off-track.

I use Omnifocus to put a time limit and reminder to read these articles. I do this by creating the Task/Action in Omnifocus. I go to Devonthink, find the article, and use the Edit – Copy Item Link. I paste this link into the Edit – note section of the action and it becomes a link back to the Devonthink document. Also important to set a due date on it which will come up in reminders in OSX for the day when due.
