I have been up to my elbows in reconfiguring and overhauling some of the back end to this WordPress site for better SEO. I am not a power expert on WordPress but over the years I have learned my way around this blog hosting software.
WordPress Categories and Tags
Firstly, I have tidied up my categories and tags. I think they were getting a little too muddled and some categories and tags were crossing over. I have decided to keep the categories to a minimum and create more tags in line with the posts’ content. This is one tip for the book and helps with WordPress SEO.
Recommended SEO Book
Also, I have been doing a bit of reading about optimising my categories and tags for SEO. I have a few e-books on SEO and keyword strategies, one I’m reading now is the SEO Workbook by Jason McDonald and Michael Goodrick. It is well-written and easy to follow. It works well for WordPress SEO purposes.
The tips from this book have spurred me on to re-organise my categories and tags. It ensures I have keyword rich meta descriptions for categories, tags, posts, and pages. It is a bit of work learning to write good copy for meta descriptions. They will ultimately be seen in searches on Google, so it’s a good thing.
