Exams
Students can be prepared for AMEB exams held twice during the year. Students are encouraged to do exams as it gives them a challenge and also allows students to get a benchmark as to how they are progressing compared to other students at the same level. The exams are nation-wide and often used as an pre-requisite for students intending to pursue university level music training.
Parents
Parents are welcome to sit in a listen to the lessons and to be there as a supportive, non-intrusive role.
Materials
Students must bring all their lessons books to each lesson. Students are also expected to buy the required music for AMEB exams as photocopies are not allowed. An exercise book is needed by each student as a weekly practice book.
Studio
Students and parents are requested to remain within the studio area. The studio is part of a private residence and are required to remain in the waiting room or studio. Parents and students who want to wander about the house will be dismissed. There is no reason to walk about other areas of my home and anyway, the dog might get to you before I do.
Fees
Lessons fees are payed by the month and are due in advance on the first lesson day of each month.
Fees can be payed by cash, cheque, or by electronic transfer to bank account.
Fees are charged by the month and are not refundable or lowered for payments in advance.

Siblings
Students often have younger.older siblings. Please do not bring the siblings to the lesson.
Securing a Lesson Time
Students will be required to have a lesson consultation before I agree to take the student. This is to assess suitability and previous training.
School Holidays
Generally, there are no lessons during school holidays.
Attendance
The lesson time is exclusively reserved for the student. Missed lessons are not made up and fees are not adjusted to compensate.
In the event of sickness or committments by the teacher, a make-up will be arranged to accommodate the absence. Teacher absences are rare. As much as possible, advance notice will be given of an impending teacher absence,

Termination of Lessons
If a student wishes to terminate lessons, they must give 4 weeks notice. A good idea is to continue to the end of a school term.
Student Dismissal
Although this never happens, a student can be dismissed. Most of the time, both teacher and student are in agreement that Piano lessons just are not for them, or school/work commitments are too much to continue. However, a student who continually misses lessons, or really fails to make any appreciable progress, they may be in jeopardy of being dismissed. Students will be given many opportunities and encouraged to progress as much as they can, and discussion with the student and parents about their progress is encouraged and appreciated.
Studio CD Recordings
Studio CD's are produced throughout the year as part of the student lesson. CD recordings are a great way to promote and encourage students in their lessons. They also make great gifts for family and friends. The studio can produce high-level audio recordings of your child's performances.
Food & Drink
No food or drink is allowed in the Teaching studio or waiting room.
Parking
Please park in the street when arriving for lessons. The driveway is not available for parking.
Toilet
No toilet facilities are available the the student. Please use your own facilities prior to coming to the lesson.
Un-Scheduled Visits
Please do not drop-by to have a talk about your child's progress. For a more extended discussion, a time can be arranged.

Tuition
Tuition will be for either 30 mins or 1 hour as decided upon initial consultation. At least two terms commitment must be given by the student once a lesson time has been agreed to.
Practice
It is an expectation that students will practice daily throughout the week to be fully prepared for their lessons. The amount of time that should be devoted to practice will vary according to the level of ability of the student and an indication is given to the students during their lessons and written in their weekly practice book.
Lesson Rescheduling
Lessons cannot be rescheduled. In the case that a lesson must be missed, due to illness or school/family commitments, a text message to 0408 237634 or a phone call is required. 24 hrs notice must be given. Less than 24 hrs notice and the lesson fee (payable in advance) is forfeited.
